The Central Community Center was dedicated and is now Open.
Central Schwenkfelder Church is pleased to announce the completion of the Central Community Center, a new 17,000 square foot building located at 2067 Steelman Road in Lansdale (Worcester Township) , adjacent to the church. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 3:00 p.m. Groundbreaking for the Center took place in January, and the congregation has enjoyed seeing it progress throughout 2011, the church's 60th year. Various Sunday School classes will be presenting time-capsule items to be sealed at the Community Center, to commemorate the church's 60th anniversary and the building's dedication. AND Central's Community Groundbreaking back in January...

Community Center Groundbreaking back on January 14th!
Since the official groundbreaking on January 14, construction of the Community Center is now in process. It is projected that the foundation will be installed during the month of February, and that the steel will begin to be erected during March, weather permitting.
At the time of the groundbreaking, donors had pledged around $1.6 million to the project, and of that figure, approximately $1.35 million had been received in upfront contributions. The current donations total represents about 94% of the project’s $1.7 million budget, and it is hoped that we can obtain the remaining $100,000 as upfront donations prior to the completion of the building during the late summer of 2011. If we are able to accomplish this, we should be able to complete this project without the need for any construction or permanent financing.
The committee wishes to thank those who have already made a commitment to the project, and hopes that every member of the congregation will prayerfully consider how they can support the Community Center, which will be an important addition to our church, allowing us to improve and expand spiritual, recreational and social programs, both for our congregation, and the community at large. For further details on the project, contact Ken Clemens, Tony Cinelli or Alan Seese.
Tribute Bricks Benefit the Community Center Project
Tribute bricks featuring a personalized message are going to be installed as part of the hardscaping on the exterior of the Community Center building, and can be inscribed to include a name, date, or special Bible verse, up to 45 characters in length. Bricks cost $100, and proceeds benefit the Community Center project. A sample and order forms can be found on the table with other Community Center materials in Fellowship Hall. Chris Hunt is coordinating this effort, so please see him with any questions.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Here we are at the beginning of another New Year. Are you ready to cuddle up with a prayer shawl you are knitting or crocheting during the cold winter evenings? We are nearing a milestone. When the next shawl blessing occurs we will have passed the 100 mark thanks to 20+ busy sets of hands. This is a rewarding activity when you read the "thank you" notes from the many recipients. Instructions and yarn are available for you to work at home as you are able. We continue to work during LAMPS on Wed mornings but will NOT be meeting on Wed evenings. For more information contact Wilma Werley (610-275-1676).

Schwenckfeld's Catechism
Dr. Drake Williams, Christian Williams, Grant Gebbie, and Dr. Peter
Erb have spent the past couple of years translating Schwenckfelds
catechism and confessions from German into English. The publication
is ready for printing by Pandora Press of Canada.
Pandora Press is a recognized press within Anabaptist and Radical
Reformation studies. Having Pandora publish the volume would also
circulate the catechism project among a broader audience, a way of
promoting Schwenkfelder studies.
This is rare opportunity to discover what Caspar Schwenckfeld believed
and taught. Please consider contacting the office of Central Schwenkfelder
Church with your vote of interest in purchasing a copy and passing
this along to anyone that may be interested.
