November message by
|
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Rev. Clifford Liu as our Missions
Emphasis speaker. Once again it is time for us as a church to think about missions
as November is Mission Emphasis Month. For years we as a church have set aside
one month of the year to remind ourselves of Christ's great commandment in Matthew
28:18-20, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the
age."
This month we are fortunate to have a number of mission representatives with
us. We will look forward to hearing from Community Housing Services (also known
as Ezra House). This is a supportive housing center in Lansdale for homeless
single men. We also look forward to hearing from New Life Youth and Family Services.
They are based in the Harleysville area and work with troubled youth and their
families. Both of these groups will present short mission updates at our November
17 and 24 services respectively.
I particularly wanted to highlight our mission speaker, Rev. Clifford Liu, who
will be bringing the message for us at our main mission slot on November 3.
Rev. Clifford Liu is a Chinese pastor in our area serving a Chinese church that
meets in Upper Dublin. Three times a year, however, he travels to China to support
and encourage the Chinese church. He takes medical supplies to those in need,
and he also distributes Chinese Bibles. He also takes groups from churches to
support his mission work.
Rev. Clifford Liu has known Rev. Karen Gallagher for a number of years. Two
years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting him. He even invited me to preach in
his church and enjoy some delicious Chinese food after the service a year ago.
He is an enthusiastic and winsome messenger for Christ. I expect that you will
enjoy his presentation very much on November 3.
Until all the world knows of our Savior,
Rev. Dr. H. Drake Williams
