Prayer message by
Dr. Drake Williams,
Associate Minister

Dear Friends in Christ,

The events of these past few months have been very tragic. With the sudden terrorist attacks upon America in New York and in Washington, the continued threats, and the ongoing war against terrorism, there has been much that has affected us. Surely, life was much different for us before September 11 than it has been since then.

With all that has happened in these past few months, it is easy to feel as if we as a church or as individuals can do little to influence our world. This is simply not the case. There is much that we are doing and can do to influence our world. This coming month is Mission Emphasis Month. During this month we will be considering ways that we as a church are influencing our world and will influence our world.

On Sunday, November 4, we are looking forward to hearing from Mark Goins, the Executive Director of Liberty Ministries. This ministry is based in Schwenksville and works with inmates from prisons such as Graterford. They also provide a transition with inmates as they return to society.  We have been in support of Liberty Ministries for a number of years. This, however, is the first time that we have the pleasure of hearing from Mark. Liberty Ministries will be our keynote mission for the month. Mark will deliver the sermon on November 4, and we will be supporting Liberty Ministries through special giving that will happen throughout the month.

As we continue through Mission Emphasis Month, we will receive various short updates from other mission works that we support. On Sunday, November 11, we will be hearing from Steve and Judy Baker. Steve and Judy serve with Campus Crusade for Christ on college campuses in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware areas. On Sunday, November 18, we will be hearing from Heifer Project International. Heifer Project works to alleviate hunger and poverty around the world by enabling families in needy places to be self-reliant. On Sunday, November 25, we will be hearing a short update from Donna Thomas who serves with Project Partner with Christ. Project Partner supports "nationals" from countries such as Mexico, China, India, and Russia who are planting new churches and evangelizing in those countries.

By supporting these mission efforts through prayer and financial giving, we as a church are influencing our local community and our world. I hope that you will consider ways during this month that you can support mission efforts more. Please, especially, consider how you can be in prayer for these mission efforts. James 5:16 indicates that the prayer of a righteous person accomplishes "much." Obviously, there is still "much" left to be done in our world by faithful Christians who pray.

With Christian Greetings,

Rev. Dr. Drake Williams
