Let everything that has breath praise the LORD... Psalm
150:6
|
Dear Friends,
As we continue in this season of Lent we have the perfect opportunity to deepen our spiritual walk with our Lord. If you struggle with making the time for daily devotions, perhaps these words from Jerry Haas of The Upper Room Disciplines might help:
"Many of us grapple with the issue of time. While it's wonderful to establish a particular time each day for Bible reading and prayer, for many of us, that just doesn't happen. If your daily schedule is too chaotic to establish a regular pattern, you may want to think of several blocks of time during the week. Two hours a week in prayer and Scripture meditation can be done in two settings or in seven.
Do you have a particular place to read and pray? The kitchen table may be that special spot for you. Some people organize a meditation corner or set aside one whole room for personal devotions. The value of having a place to pray is that it serves as a reminder of et everything of God's invitation to pray and listen.
As you accept the divine invitation to prayer, take time to listen. Listen to your life, the stresses and the strains, the joys and the sorrows. Listen to your heart, its deepest longings and fervent prayers. Listen to God, inviting you to a deeper relationship of love and delight, mystery and mission, joy and service.
When you sit down to read the Bible, breathe in the grace and goodness of God before you pray, and exhale the stress and distress of life. Take three deep breaths, ask for the Spirit's guidance and let your heart dance with delight! "
While we work to deepen our personal relationship with Christ, let's not forget our corporate relationship with His people. Please join us for our Holy Week services, which are listed on page 3 of this newsletter.
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ touch you in new and meaningful ways as we remember His life, death and resurrection this month.
All God's blessings,
Rev. Karen K. Gallagher
