June 2003!
|
Dear Friends,
The life of the church consists of fellowship with Christ and with one another.
June is a very busy month for our church family, especially the children! We
begin the month with Children's Day on June 1. It will be a bit different this
year, with everyone gathering together at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall to
learn more about the Parables of Jesus, as we learn more about each other.
June 8 is Pentecost-the Sunday we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit to
the Christian community. We will have communion at both services on that day
and bring new members into our fellowship at the 10:30 AM service. (To learn
more about Pentecost, see the article on page 6.)
June 15 is a dedication of infants during the 10:30 AM service. On June 22 Bible
School will begin and will run through June 26. The theme for Bible School this
year is "Treasures of the Nile." We're always looking for volunteer
help - women, men and teens! If you're interested, let me know!
June 22 and June 29, we complete our series on John's Epistles. As ministers,
we've enjoyed and benefited from studying these three letters, we hope you have
too!
At the conclusion of the service for New Members, we welcome them into our fellowship
with these words from Ephesians 2:19-22: "Consequently, you are no longer
foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of
God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with
Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is
joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you
too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His
Spirit."
May God bless us as we seek to live out this promise and responsibility!
