Welcome to 2002!

Dear Christian Friends,

The New Year 2002 finds us reflecting again on our goals and direction as a church family. This year, we would like to continue our emphasis on Biblical awareness and knowledge by beginning a sermon series on the main themes of the Bible.

From January 6 through March 17, we will be preaching from the first twelve chapters of the book of Genesis. The main themes on which we will focus are: Creation, the Fall, Cain and Abel, The Flood, the Tower of Babel and the Patriarch, Abraham.

The Scripture references for these sermons are printed in the newsletter each month. Please take the time to read through them to prepare for hearing the sermon each week. And continue to pray for us as we seek to speak and live God's message for our community of faith each day.

We look forward to serving with you in this New Year. Working together, we can, indeed, do great things for God in His world.

The following quote was part of the last devotional that Dr. Jack read for us at his last staff meeting. We think it is an appropriate idea for us to begin with this year.

"The commission given to the church is that it carry out the purpose of God. That is what is meant by the description of it as `the body of Christ'... That body has many functions to fulfill, and one of them is suffering. The members of the Church do not, or should not, belong to it for what they can get in this or in any other world; they - we - should belong to it in order to take our share in the great work, the fulfillment of God's purpose in the world and beyond it."
---William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury

May God bless you and guide you as we seek to serve Him together!
