Worship Weekend

We have a unique opportunity to explore what it means to truly worship God. On the weekend of November 8, 9 and 10, we will be holding a Worship Weekend. Rev. Brad Berglund, an American Baptist minister, will be our guest leader. His current ministry involves helping congregations enhance their understanding of worship. Brad will help us look at the purpose of worship in the life of the church as well as in the lives of the individuals within the church, and then work with us as we explore ways of drawing closer to God through our worship time with Him.
As we draw closer to our worship weekend, perhaps you'd like to prepare by reading and thinking about some Bible passages on worship:

Exodus 34:14
I Chronicles 16:29
Psalm 5:7,8
Psalm 29
Psalm 95:1-7
Psalm 99
Matthew 4:1-11
John 4:19-26

Donald P. Hustad, in his book True Worship, says this: "Worship is not an occasional burst of emotion that sneaks up on us. Worship is not an experience that any person-preacher, music director or worship leader can lead us into. Worship is the conscious, demanding work of the believer, led and enabled by the Holy Spirit alone. Worship is practicing the presence of God - in an act of the will, by the grace of God. Of course, in our quest and resolve we will be helped or hindered by our surroundings.but true worship depends more on our inner motivation and persistent effort than on any outside influence. Like all work, it gets easier, more natural, the more we do it." (p.51)

Please plan on joining us as we work at worship together!
