We are blessed at Central to have a vibrant and inspiring music program featuring vocal choirs of all ages as well as instrumental choirs. Our youth choirs each sing/ring monthly and offer children the opportunity to serve God and His church with their music. All Youth Choirs rehearse on Wednesday evenings. Children in grades K-2 participate in the Cherub Choir which rehearses from 5:45 – 6:15. The Junior Choir rehearses from 5:00-5:45 and includes children grades 3 – 6. The Junior Bells rehearse from 5:45 – 6:30. The Dorian Choir includes singers in grades 7-12 and rehearses from 5:45 – 6:30.
The Chancel Choir is an adult mixed choir of approximately 40 voices. This choir offers a varied program of anthems at the 9:00 service and rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 PM. The Chancel Bell Choir is an adult group of ringers who participate monthly in the 9:00 service and rehearse on Mondays at 7:30 pm. Our bell choirs bring beautiful music to the service and often accompany instrumentalists or vocal choirs.
The Brasswind Choir also rehearses on Wednesday evenings and offers music on a monthly basis at the 9:00 service bringing an exciting dimension to the music program. This 30 piece ensemble of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments plays sacred concert literature to enhance the worship service and inspire the congregants. In addition, the brass sextet, Celebration Brass, offers instrumental music in our services often accompanying the vocal choirs. Click HERE for a sample of our music selections.
In addition, teams of singers and instrumentalists serve as worship leaders at the informal worship service held at 11:15 on Sundays. The worship teams rehearse at 6:30 on Tuesday evening. We are happy to welcome new members into all of our choirs and worship teams.
All interested persons, please contact Sally House, Director of Music, Central Schwenkfelder Church.
