Local Missions
Baker Industries
- Baker Industries is a work rehabilitation program designed
for people with disabilities, recovering substance abusers, individuals
on parole or probation, or homeless people. They employ those who have
the most difficulty in finding and holding jobs, teach the work ethic
through real work experience, and act as a transition step toward outside
employment. Rev. Tom Byron, the former Senior Pastor of Central Schwenkfelder
Church serves as the Director of Personnel and helps arrange employment
for people who have these types of challenged backgrounds.

Christ's Home for Children - Located
in Warminster, Christ's Home serves needy and neglected children and
youth by providing a Christian based, stable, caring home while meeting
educational, medical, emotional and social needs. Mike and Nancy Flannery
are working toward certification in the Teaching Family Association
which will impact staff training and childcare approaches. A Retirement
Community caring for aging adults is also provided. www.christhomeforchildren.org
Chinese for Christ Bible Institute
- The Chinese for Christ Bible Institute (CCBI) supports the mission
of Jesus Christ for Chinese people. The ministry of preaching, training,
witnessing, supporting and encouraging includes mission trips to China
and participating in the worship and the training of Chinese Christian
leaders and the distribution of Chinese Bibles. Youth and young adult
cultural exchange programs offer an opportunity to relate information
about the faith. Support and encouragement for autistic children, medical
care in rural areas, and for the education of poor girls are a few examples
of the outreach of CCBI. Rev. Clifford Liu, who oversees CCBI, is known
by pastors in the area through the North Penn Ministerium which Rev.
Karen Gallagher chairs. Rev. Brad Smith has known Rev. Liu for a number
of years. Rev. Dr. Drake Williams has preached at the church Rev. Liu
pastors in Upper Dublin.

Chester County Migrant Ministries
- This ministry is a Christian social ministry serving migrants
and their families who are predominantly involved with the mushroom
business in Chester County. They provide migrants and their families
assistance for immigration and naturalization. They also provide Christmas
presents, blankets, and health kits for migrants and their families.
As a conference we have provided blankets and health kits to this ministry
for many years. The Schwenkfelder Conference is the largest supporter
of this ministry.

Community Housing Services, Inc. (Lansdale)
General Fund - A local agency helping to meet critical housing
and other needs for distressed individuals and families.
Community Housing Services, Inc. (Lansdale)
Ezra House - A supportive housing center in Lansdale for homeless
single men.
Habitat for Humanity - Habitat's
vision is for everyone to have a decent place in which to live. With
"hands on participation" Habitat is meeting needs that low-income
families have in finding affordable housing. Central is currently committed
to "rehabbing" the house at 709 Cherry Street, Norristown.

Inter-faith of Ambler -
Inter-faith Hospitality Network of Ambler is a non-profit, inter-faith
organization composed of volunteers and a small staff. It serves homeless
families in Central Montgomery County, providing extended shelter, food
and other assistance so that families can make their way to self-sufficiency.
They have a 24-hour hotline to provide immediate assistance to those
in need. They have established a hospitality network that provides support
in one of the compassionate local houses of worship. They also own a
facility called Hope Gardens, which is the first transitional housing
facility of its kind in Montgomery County. Central Schwenkfelder Church
has participated with Inter-faith for a number of years, housing
people in the church during the month of November.

Indian Valley Interfaith Hospitality Network
- Organization serves families in crisis from the North Penn/Indian
Valley area, using facilities and volunteers from more than a dozen
religious congregations annually. Families receive a place to sleep,
meals, and supportive services. Central hosted in 1999.
Interfaith Community Services (Lansdale)
Manna on Main Street - This organization aids the hungry and
financially disadvantaged in the North Penn area. Their services include
a soup kitchen, food pantry, conflict management (support groups), medical
aid, dairy vouchers and holiday dinners.
Liberty Ministries - Organization
that works with inmates to support them as they return to society. Recent
construction of a new addition and renovation of existing rooms at Liberty
House in Schwenksville allows for increased follow-through with graduates
of the program. Housing is available for 20 men. Participation in the
recently approved Christian Pre-Release Program ("God Pod"
project) with the Montgomery County Correctional Facility at Eagleville
where volunteers can provide Christian programs and counseling, is a
welcome new opportunity.
Neighborhood Crusades, Inc. Melvin
Floyd works in inner city Philadelphia in several ways: prison outreach,
Melvin Floyd School of Urban Missions and evangelism, a street preaching
ministry, and tract distribution at major city events. He travels through
neighborhoods in a van blaring invitations to attend evangelistic meetings.
New Life Youth and Family Services -
Troubled youth and their families receive schooling and counseling with
spiritual focus in a day program or residential setting as required.
Year round operation of facility and school provides continuity of support
and allows youth to finish high school on age appropriate schedule.
Schwenkfelder Missionary Church - The Schwenkfelder Missionary
Church began in October 18, 1998. Its objective is to serve the community
in mind, body, and spirit, to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ,
and to share the history and teachings of the Schwenkfelder churches.
The church meets for services at 10:45 a.m. in the chapel at the Mitchum-Wilson
Funeral Home located at 2010 Reed Street. Church School is held every
Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The church also runs a lunch program at the Houston
Community Center on 8th and Snyder every Wednesday at 12:30
p.m. The church assists with a hospice program. Rev. Ed Winslow is the
pastor and Rev. Sam Maddox assists in the pastoral ministry. Mr. William
Dill serves as the moderator. Mrs. Charlotte Winslow spearheads the
lunch program.

National Missions
Idamay Bible Church - A small Bible
based church located in Beattyville, KY. The church was founded in the
1960's and grew under the leadership of Rev. Jerry States. The church
is currently being ministered to by Pastor Mark Coburn. Several years
ago a group of men from Central helped to expand the church facility.
Joy Ranch - Celebrating its 40th
year, Joy Ranch continues to provide a safe, secure Christian haven
for children in distress situations. Consisting of several residential
cottages for boys and girls, the Ranch is located in the Blue Ridge
Mountains of Virginia. Their director, Ronnie Collins, and staff are
working towards having an emergency placement cottage in the near future
for immediate placement needs and are looking into having a school on

Kentucky Mountain Mission - A mission
outreach which evangelizes through the Youth Haven Bible Club movement
in numerous summer camps and retreats. Work crews from different denominations
around the USA assist in the program. Also, they are involved in Christian
work at area schools.
Campus Crusade for Christ (Judy & Steve
Baker) - This campus ministry is committed to developing ongoing
ministries of evangelism and discipleship accessible to every student
on every campus. Steve (full time staff member) and Judy Baker are directing
the ministry at the University of Pennsylvania. They are helping to
reach out to colleges in PA, NJ and DE in an effort to establish new
campus ministries. They are thrilled to have ministries on many campuses

Christian Endeavor, PA (PACE) - An
organization on the statewide level of various denominations of churches
who adhere to the ideals of Christian education and leadership training
for the youth of our churches.
International Missions
Joan Hunsberger - For over 25 years we have supported
fellow Schwenkfelder, Joan Hunsberger and her work in the Amazon River
Basin in Brazil. She has served for many years in their Jet Cadet program
and has recently turned over the leadership of this program to others.
Currently, she is corresponding for Christian programming through Trans
World Radio. She is also teaching a subject at a local Bible College
on the history of mission. She is translating children's stories into
Portuguese for use by Sunday School teachers. She also works with a
national women's organization and the Child Evangelism Board. She was
a member of Lansdale Schwenkfelder Church, now called Faith Community
Church.

INTERNATIONAL TEAMS
International Teams is a nondenominational
Christian, evangelical ministry embracing a wide range of backgrounds
and styles. They specialize in refugee ministries, youth ministries,
evangelism and church planting. Central supports Gregg and Linda Stirzel
who serve in Austria.
Arab World Ministries (Linda Tomlin)
- The organization's focus is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ
to the Arab World. We specifically support Linda Tomlin who ministers
to Muslims in France. A Conference was held in May 2000 for Muslim background
believers living in France, encouraging them to understand the Christian

Christian Endeavor
International -CEI - Christian Endeavor International
for Christ and His Church since 1881 is based upon four basic principals:
Confession of Christ, Loyalty to Christ, Service for Christ, and Fellowship
with Christ's people everywhere. Its purpose is to train young people
for leadership in their local church. It is inter-denominational, inter-racial,
and international in scope. A new approach was begun in 2000 using the

CEI is a union of CE groups in Canada, United States and its Pacific
Islands, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.
WCEU - The purpose of the World's
Christian Endeavor Union is to unite in closer fellowship the Christian
Endeavors of the world, to promote the interests of the Christian Endeavor
movement, to reinforce the Christian churches in every land, and to
cement the spiritual union of Christians the world around.
Church Ministries, International -
CMI is an evangelical, interdenominational, nonprofit organization dedicated
to creating churches through its Encounter with God program in the 20
Latin American capitol cities. Their goal is to reproduce churches to
evangelize their nations. Ten Latin America countries now have reproducing

Heifer Proiect, International - In
partnership with others HPI works to alleviate hunger, poverty and environmental
degradation by enabling families to seek self reliance in food production
and income generation on a sustainable basis.
Mid-County Church of Christ (Craig Young)
- Craig was a former member of Central during his teen years.
He and his wife, Kathleen, have been missionaries associated with the
Mid-County Church of Christ proclaiming the gospel in Marseilles, France
for the past 9 years. Meeting with French church leaders they established
goals including: to support the work of Christians on Mission and of
Harmony Bible Camp, to call, train and support French evangelists and
to develop "Antioch" churches in France.
Patkai Foundation, Inc. (Dr. Tuisem Shishak)
- Providing quality education as well as knowledge of the Lord to tribal
children and youth, the Patkai Christian College in Nagaland, India
has grown from 20 students in 1974 to 1,500 students today. Rev. Shishak
is the President of the College. Serious threats to Christians in India
are of daily concern. Other pressing concerns are meeting the needs
for a safe adequate water supply and for generation of sufficient power.

- Provides U.S. Christians and laity with a method to develop and work
in interdependent partnerships with "National" (indigenous)

Trans World Radio (Daryl Van Dyken)
- Mass communication of the gospel is the goal of TWR founded in 1952.
Our supported missionaries are Daryl and Carol Van Dyken, who have recently
completed an assignment building a new transmitter site in Sri Lanka.

- UFM works to bring the Gospel to people throughout the world. For
