Central Schwenkfelder Church Announces

the Completion and Dedication of the

CENTRAL COMMUNITY CENTER

Central Schwenkfelder Church is pleased to announce the completion of the Central Community Center, a new 17,000 square foot building located at 2067 Steelman Road in Lansdale (Worcester Township) , adjacent to the church.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration was held on Sunday, September 11, 2011.  Groundbreaking for the Center took place in January, and the congregation has enjoyed seeing it progress throughout 2011, the church's 60th year.  Various Sunday School classes presented time-capsule items to be sealed at the Community Center, to commemorate the church's 60th anniversary and the building's dedication.

The Central Community Center is being dedicated to Allen M. Koehler, a beloved church and  community leader.  Mr. Koehler, a resident of Lansdale, has been an inspiring mentor to  youth and adults alike as an elementary school teacher and principal, Sunday School superintendant, youth group advisor, and mission trip leader.  Over the years he has also cheerfully served on various boards and still leads the Bethel Bible Class, which he began in 1974.  The ceremony will include a short address from Mr. Koehler.

The Central Community Center includes a state-of-the art gymnasium, kitchenette area with café, two multi-purpose activity rooms, a youth lounge, assembly area and an office.  A new soccer field will also be developed using the soil from the site's excavation.  The facility will benefit Central's congregation and the surrounding community  as an ideal venue for:

  • Recreational offerings like basketball, volleyball and soccer leagues for youth and adults
  • Exercise classes and family gym nights
  • Youth group meetings and activities
  • Book clubs, lecture series, support groups and Bible studies for community participation
  • Informal worship

Community members interested in inquiring about using the facility may  call the church office at 610-584-4480 or email the Center's Coordinator at ActivitiesCoordinator@centralschwenkfelder.com  See our Guidelines posted here.
